Beautiful Steel Door Tracks
Door track information
The barn door track is 3/16" thick and 1 1/2" wide
3" x 1 1/2 " cast iron wheels for years of wear
5/16" x 4 1/2" lags with 1 5/8" spacer tubes to fasten to wall
Your choice of any length of 1 1/2" wide x 3/16" unfinished flat steel track with end stops (end bumpers take up to 4") are available.
All barn door tracks over 6 ft long will be shipped in two sections, and all tracks longer than 12 feet will be shipped in three sections with center splices. Shipping longer tracks in multiple sections prevents the track from bending during the shipping process.
The track can support 300 + lbs depending on if the track is installed correctly into the wall studs.
The barn door hardware weighs between 14-60 pounds depending on the size you purchase.
A standard 8 ft single door kit weighs 17 pounds.
Barn door hardware can be used outside, but it must be treated. If left untreated (raw steel) it will rust when exposed to moisture.
Your barn door should be 2- 4 inches larger than the opening, but this is a subjective thing depending on your taste and home's decor. When placing your order you will need to know the door's opening measurements. Do not give the measurement of the door you want. Only give the measurements of the opening.
HOW MUCH CLEARANCE IS NEEDED ABOVE AN OPENING?
You need 6.5 -7 inches of clearance for our standard door.
We can offer styles that accommodate lower clearances (hinge, t-strap, modern, and more)
Barn Door Information
All of our Reclaimed Sliding Doors are created from real reclaimed lumber. This lumber was obtained from Historic Barns in Central Indiana. This historic wood is old growth lumber. The growth circles are much different than the lumber growing today.
The doors created with barn siding are built with old growth pine or poplar lumber. This lumber can vary in width. The typical sizes are 7 inch wide and 3/4 inch thick. We can cut the length as needed for your custom need.
Doors that are created with interior lumber from these historic barns are typically oak lumber. The lumber is usually 1 inch thick and 3 - 4 inches wide. Wider planks are available like in the photo above. This material is reclaimed from the stall walls or other interior areas of the barns.
This door is a great example of a wood framed door. Steel frames are also available.
