America's heritage has stood in the fields and beside farm houses for over a century in the form of barns. Historic barns are becoming more difficult to find, and due to the increase in comercially zoned land are being destroyed. Reclaimed Barns & Beams reclaims the wood from these hand hewed, pinned barns that have stood the tests of time. It is our hope that we can transform this wood into vintage farm tables, chairs, ceiling beams, mantles and more. This will give us a chance to keep the history of these barns alive and with us for years to come.

Real American Heritage
Hand-Hewn Barn Wood beams  reclaimed by hand from 19th century barns of Central Indiana.  Early American craftsmen would drag large timber from nearby trees to the barn site where they would carefully score, and hew the round logs into square beams suitable for supporting the barn. These historic beams still have the original hand-hewn marks of the axe or adze. Later the craftsmen used saws. The rough cut saw marks make a great look as well.
These historic beams beautiful patina is enhanced after we carefully hand sand the beams to remove loose material. These beams look great without any finish or a light clear coat can be added to increase durability and reduce splintering.

This reclaimed wood is hickory, beach and oak. It was removed one piece at a time from barns that are well over or are close to 100 years old in Indiana.

We keep all wood indoors after it is reclaimed. We clean the wood, de-nial it and remove any bad pieces. If you need custom cut to order, sanding, staining or waxing services we can provide that at an additional cost.
